S Town Lawsuit
The makers of S Town ended up being sued and heres more of the details:
My Opinion:
I had an issue with the moral aspect of the host and podcast continuing after John’s death, and I was not the only one. I had a problem because of the lack of moral accountability within the host, he continued to insert himself and dig into John's personal life even after he died, really without any right or approval.
What happened:
I was not the only who felt this way there was a whole lawsuit regarding this exact issue. "Craig Cargile, the executor of McLemore’s estate, claimed in the lawsuit filed in 2018 that the show revealed personal aspects of McLemore's life without his permission and violated Alabama’s Right of Publicity Act."
The actually lawsuit was settled by the makers of S Town and the information regarding the actual details of the settlement has not been released.

Some Words For John
Truly fascinated by John B. A life lost too soon, I wish that I could have met him one day. He was so socially conscious and I truly dont think I will EVER forget him.

John b. I stand at your driveway. Just minute or two drive to your maze. I call out your name but no answer. It seems that I am too late and you are already gone and at peace. I wish you peace and rest and yes, life is tedious and brief

My heart is broken.

S-town is one of the greatest works of modern literature because it has one of the greatest heroes: John B. McLemore. He is brilliant, complex, relatable, and aspirational all while being deeply human, flawed, and tragic. Over the course of a few hours I felt like I got to know the man but I fear that a million years wouldn't have been enough time to learn everything he had to teach. Rest in peace, sir.
- Jonathan Orbach
John,
I never knew you but through hearing your story, it is clear that your mind and brilliance was astonishing. You seemed to care deeply for the state of the world and dedicated your life to learning about the passage of time and space. My only hope is that you have found the sense of peace you seemed to be longing for. Because of the story that so many of us have had the privilege to hear, your passionate and tremendous mind will live on far past your too short life. I hope you are able to connect with the passage of time and space in a way you would never have been able to in your physical life. Thank you for sharing the last year and a half of your life and I hope you are resting peacefully.

You never knew my name, nor did we ever meet. Yet, my life was made much richer by hearing your story and experiencing your genius. Thank you.

The Climate Crisis will be define the lives of billions of people for centuries. We are at the crossroads: to choose if we want a world that is safe, durable and stable or one that is fragile, unstable, less durable and more dangerous.
I am so sad you are not here any more to contribute to us helping make this choice.

An amazing genius and diabolical archetype. We are all so lucky to have been able to learn from him and I hope we can keep his legacy alive!
XOXO

We're all John B., it's just that some of us don't know it, and some of us know it all too well. Thanks for touching us. John B., you will be missed.

You have touched me in ways I can't explain. You're so familiar. It's weird really. I feel so enlightened and blessed to have known you.
